What Do Dedicated Servers Mean?
When we talk about hosting web servers, there are three basic varieties - shared hosting web servers, VPS (virtual hosting servers) and dedicated servers. Shared web servers host numerous customers and therefore the resources per account are limited, virtual private server plans give you more configuration independence, but also affect other virtual private web hosting servers on the hardware node if used unwisely, and dedicated servers give you the autonomy to perform everything you like without meddling with anyone else.
Why would you need a dedicated server?
16 GB DDR4 ECC REG RAM
2x240 GB nvme Hard Drives
32 GB DDR4 ECC REG RAM
2x480 GB nvme Hard Drives
Dedicated servers are usually much more expensive than shared hosting web servers or virtual private web hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The explanation is very simple. If your company has a busy site, or simply has very explicit server configuration requirements, the most reasonable option would be a dedicated server. For somebody who is inclined to invest in security and dependability, the greater price is not a concern. You are granted complete server root access and can use 100 percent of the physical server's system resources without anyone else using these resources and intervening with your web portals.
Hardware specifications
Most shared hosting suppliers, incl. us at Adalike, offer different hardware configurations you can select from in keeping with your demands. The configurations include different varieties of microprocessors, a different amount of cores, different RAM memory and server hard drive sizes and different monthly bandwidth allowances. You can choose a Control Panel, which is convenient software if you would like to use the dedicated web server for hosting purposes solely and choose not to use an SSH terminal for all the modifications you will be making. We offer three kinds of web hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The hosting CP of your choice
If you are a self-assured Linux OS user (our hosting servers are powered by Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated server via a Secure Shell terminal only. That, however, could be awkward, especially if you want to grant full root access to someone else who has less technical abilities than yourself. This is why having web hosting Control Panel software pre-installed is a great idea. The Hepsia Control Panel tool that we offer does not give you root privileges and is mostly suitable for someone who runs lots of sites that consume lots of resources, but desires to manage the websites, databases and email boxes via a user-friendly hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting CPs, on the other hand, give you root access and have 3 levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell web hosting plans rather than utilizing the dedicated server solely for yourself, you should select one of these two.
Server monitoring and backup services
Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated server and of backing it up. In the event of a predicament with your web server, such as an unresponsive Apache or a network downtime, it is desirable to have some kind of monitoring system activated. Here at Adalike the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated server too. Backups are also an extra feature - the web hosting provider offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could select a type of RAID that would allow you to have the very same data on 2 server hard disk drives as a precaution in the event of a hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted access erases something unintentionally.
